LAMONI, IA - Graceland University men's soccer fell at home 1-0 to the Northwestern College Raiders.
Following Wednesday's match the Jackets were looking for their first win on the season. Graceland came out strong and stuck together as a unit, while Northwestern high pressured in the first. The Jackets created five shots in the half, placing three on goal.The Raiders on the other hand earned themselves two corner kicks, challenging the Jackets defense.
In the second half, Graceland looked well, playing in combination with one another and testing Northwestern's back line. The Yellowjackets sat back waiting for the proper time to exploit the Raider's back line, but were unable to find the back of the net. Northwestern's goal came in the 69th minute of the contest off a well struck ball, that slipped past the keeper.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Raiders 10-9 in the contest, placing five shots on goal the NC's two. For Geaceland, Andres Ruiz Rueda tallied two shots, both on goal. Amadou Kujabi, Robert Turk and Jose Maria Ruiz Gomez added a single shot on frame as well. Liam Smith marked one save in the game.
Graceland plays next at home on September 2, against Park University at 2:30 p.m.
