KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Announced this afternoon, Tirrell Brooks has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
Tirrell competed in four events for the Jackets this past weekend. He claimed a first place finish in the long jump, setting a new meet record with a leap of 6.85m. He followed with a second place finished in the high jump, with a height of 1.85 meters. Besides those two events, Brook placed sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.25) and 10th in the 200 meter (23.74).
"Tirrell had a great meet at Grinnell, breaking his own meet record in the Long Jump," said Nick Ekel, head coach. " He accomplished some things which will set him up well for this weekend's Heart of America Conference Championship."
The Graceland University men's track and field team finished 2nd out of 14 teams.
So far this season, Brook has qualified in the 60-meter hurdles (Cornell Invite) with a time of 8.38s and in the long jump (Dennis Young Classic (7.11m).
