Grinnell, IA - The Graceland Track and Field teams were in Grinnell, IA this weekend to compete in the Grinnell College Invitational.
The Men's Team finished in second place out of 14 teams with 76 points, just two points away from first place.
Payne then scored another six points for the Jackets with a third place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 23.3.
Brooks then jumped 1.85m to take second place in the high jump. Stanley Thomas and Zachary Kuntz also jumped 1.85m but with more misses which pushed them down the standings into fifth and sixth place respectively.
Where the Graceland men really cleaned up though was the long jump, taking first (Brooks - 6.85m), second (William Snorgrass - 6.68m), third (Cedric Shell - 6.45m) and sixth (Payne - 6.10) place to earn a total of 27 points from the event.
Shell then grabbed second place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.95m.
The women finished in 6th place out of 14 teams with 69 points.
Freshman Kami Tabor (1:02.70) and Ameilia Robinson (1:05.41) finished third and eighth in the 400m dash to claim seven points for the team. Then Morgan Choate scored four points with a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles (10.09).
The women's 4x400m relay team of Madeline Glodowski, Irene Moreno, Kalee Dowell and Kami Tabor finished in a time of 4:16.59 which was good enough for a third place finish. Then the same four women competed in the distance medley and earned a second place finish with a time of 13:43.58.
Amy Gully finished fourth in the women's pole vault competition with a jump of 2.90m.
In the long jump, the women earned 14 points from a second place finish from Lashaunda Yates (5.05m) and a third place finish from Jamica Lovan (4.86). Mackenzie Edmundson finished in sixth place for the triple jump with a jump of 9.46m.
Brittany Richards grabbed fourth place in the Shot Put with a toss of 11.40m, while Celeste Sterling threw 11.09m to secure seventh place. GU grabbed another 14 points in the Weight Throw with finishes of second (Annabelle Haarstad - 14.88m), fifth (Sterling - 14.17) and seventh (Naomi Dalton - 14.03).
The Track and Field teams will be back in action next weekend in Normal, IL for the Conference Championships hosted by Illinois College.
