SPRINGFIELD, MO - Ujang Zarems placed third overall, as the Graceland University men's golf team finished sixth out of 11 at the Evangel Invitational.
Weather: Sunny, light wind, 75 degrees both days.
The men's team golfed 72 holes to card a team score of 942. Newman won the event with a 897.
Head Coach Kevin Brunner stated,
"We played well the first two rounds. I challenged the team to go below 300 the last round but they were unable to meet that goal. I am still hopeful that we can play other courses under 300 before the end of the year."
Ujang Zarems led the team with +5 over par with a 221 (72, 73, 76). He finished third overall and made the all-tournament team. Bryce McEachem carded a 239 (79, 76, 84), not playing his best round on day two, to tie for 24th. Logan Currin and Andy Rumbaugh competed well, turning in 242 and 246, respectively. Mark Fink rounded out the top five with a 248, playing his best round of golf the second day.
The second team was led by Blake Rose who played consistent to score a 253. McKinley Leonard added a 259 after playing a solid last round. Daniel Carmer and Tim Brunner continue to improve and change their swings, turning in cards of 276 and 280, respectively.
The men's golf team will compete again Oct. 4th at the Missouri Valley Invitational.
