Kansas City, MO - The Graceland men's golf team closed out its 2016 season with a sixth place finish in the Heart Conference Golf Tournament hosted by Avila University at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, MO.
Team Finish 6 of 11. Shot 300-305-307=912.
Par 72, 6422 Yards.
Weather was cloudy and misty on the first day with temperatures in the 60s and light winds. The second day was picture perfect with no wind, a lot of sunshine and temperatures in the 80s
"The team played well for the tournament. The addition of four new schools greatly increased the competitive nature of the conference. We shot our best 54-hole score since I have been coaching and all three rounds were under our season average of 309. I am pleased that we played better than our average in all three rounds. The other noteworthy item is that three players will return to help lead the charge again next year; however, we will miss the efforts of two graduating seniors, Josh Waite and Oswaldo Herrera."
Josh Waite shot 74-76-82=232 (T27). Played strong both days but struggled with his short game the second day. His leadership will be missed next year.
Oswaldo Herrera shot 76-77-87=240 (T39). Hit the ball well but struggled with some unlucky breaks on the second day. He will be missed for his perseverance and dedication.
Ujang Zarems shot 75-77-72=224 (T11). Great finishing day. Played well for the entire two days. Will be a catalyst to the team for next year.
Bryce McEachern shot 75-81-76=232 (T27). Played a good couple of rounds. Struggled in the second round of the first day. He will be an important element to next year's success.
Andy Rumbaugh shot 77-75-77=229 (T23). Played consistently for the tournament. He is always ready and plays with determination. He will be an important part of the team for next year.
Congratulations to the Graceland men's golf team for a great 2016 season!!
