Boonville, MO - The men's golf team was at the Halil Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, MO this week to participate in the Central Methodist Inviational hosted by Central Methodist University.
The team finished 5th out of 12 teams total. Their two-day toal score (304-303 = 607) was the best score of the season for the Yellowjackets.
Weather was sunny both days with highs in the 70s. The wind provided a bit of a challenge on the first day (10-15 mph), but the second day was very good conditions with practically no wind.
"The team played well and very consistent," commented head coach Kevin Brunner. "The first day was good but Josh Waite and Ujang Zarems (the number 1 and 2 golfers on the team) shot the highest scores for the team. The second day Josh and Ujang bounced back to shoot better scores."
Ujang Zarems shot 81-76=157 (T35). Poor first day but bounced back and played good the second day. Finished the second day very strong.
Josh Waite shot 75-77=152 (T16). Problems on day 1 but bounced back to play a good round the second day.
Oswaldo Herrera shot 75-78=153 (T19). Hit the ball really well but struggled with the putter.
Bryce McEachern shot 73-76=149 (T10). Best tournament of the year. Seems to be rounding into good shape for conference tournament.
Andy Rumbaugh shot 77-78=155 (T24). Played well both days. Struggled with his finish on the second day.
Logan Currin shot 83-82=165 (T50). Never was able to get all his game working for this tournament. Gained some great experience.
Mark Fink shot 80-77=157 (T35). Great competitive spirit and drive. His game is starting to take shape.
Tim Brunner shot 86-90=176 (62). Hit some great shots just needs to work on his consistency to be a better golfer.
Blake Rose shot 82-86=168 (53). Starting to show he can play at the college level. He was starting to get comfortable in this tournament competing against good competition.
Adam Putnam 91-99=190 (65). Had a great stretch of holes but then lost some strokes. He needs to continue to work on his game.
The golf team will be at the Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, MO on May 9 and 10 to compete in the Heart Conference Championships.
