Maryville, MO - The Graceland men and women's golf teams hosted day two of the Graceland Invitational today at Mozingo Lake Golf Course. The men's team finished in second place out of a field of 14, while the women's team did not have enough participants to compete as a team and only competed as individuals.
The Yellowjacket men had a number of very good performances on the day, finishing with a team total of 616 just nine strokes behind first place Lindenwood-Belleville University who finished with 607.
Leading the way for Graceland was senior Josh Waite and sophomore Bryce McEachern who each had a magnificent day on the links. Waite and McEachern finished today with a score of 153 to tie for seventh place, finishing just one stroke behind fifth place tie of Keith Murphy of Lindenwood-Belleville and Braxton Risetter of DMACC.
Senior Oswaldo Herrera also had a very strong showing this afternoon, shooting a 77 on day two for a total score of 154 to come in tied for 14th place.
Alexis Miller led the way for Graceland on the women's side. She finished with a score of 188 to come in 16th place. Miller finished just four strokes behind Trinity Hill of Waldorf College who came in 15th place.
Senior Hannah Krueger also had a strong day for the women's squad shooting an 100 on day two to come in tied for 32nd place with a total score of 204.
"The men finished in second place for the two days," said Head Coach Kevin Brunner. "It was a great team effort. The conditions today greatly diminished and made it very difficult. Rain and cold made it hard to hold the club and then the wind added more difficulty. Josh Waite and Bryce McEachern tied for seventh and missed being on the all-tournament by a scorecard playoff.
"The women persevered and did a great job in the conditions," continued Coach Brunner. "Alexis Miller led the team."
The Yellowjackets men's team will be right back at it Monday morning, when they will travel to Kansas City, MO to take part in the Avila Invitational hosted by Avila University.
