Des Moines, IA - The GU men's volleyball team defeated Lindenwood University-Belleville and Johnson & Wales University in day two of the Grand View University Invitational on Saturday.

The Jackets overpowered the Lynx, 3-1 (25-11,19-25,25-23,25-16) to start off the second day of the tournament on a high note.

GU played solid defense against Lindenwood-Belleville with 43 total team digs. Kyle Acker was a big contributor with eight digs followed by Danny Ly with seven.

Ly also had an outstanding match at the net with 16 kills followed by Nic Mueller with six for the Graceland offense.

In its second and final match of the day and weekend, Graceland squared off with the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales. The Jackets finished the tournament with a victory in straight sets, 25-11, 25-19 and 25-15.

Ryse Dawson and Danny Ly both had solid matches for the Jackets as Dawson tallied 10 kills and Ly finished with six. Ly had 12 digs in the win while setter Silila Tucker demonstrated solid offensive play with 23 assists.

"We played better today," said head coach Chad McDole. "We served more consistent and made some mental changes that helped us. Our platform play was better and we took better swings at the net.

"We told the guys to focus more on the process and the outcome with come and that's what we did today. We have a couple wins under our belt and the team is feeling excited. Everyone had the chance to contribute and our bench showed to be reliable."

The Jackets are now 2-3 on the young season and will host Missouri Valley College on Tuesday, February 4th at 7pm.
