Postcards from Indiana is the daily blog by the Graceland Sports Info Department on the activities of the track and field squads at the 2012 NAIA National Championships in Marion, Ind.

6:00 AM (Lamoni) -- Bright and early, the cruiser pulls up at my home and head coach Daniel Alvarado emerges eager and excited to hit the road. Inside cracking jokes already are championship entries Yonas Mebrahtu, Alex Stewart and Florida Siaosi. Also joining the crew is assistant coach Marquise Brown. After a quick check of the vehicle, we hit I-35 to begin our journey.

2:00 PM (Middle of Nowhere, Indiana) -- After leaving the comforts of highway driving in Gary, the crew had to adventure onto county roads and highways to make its way to Marion, situated just northeast of Indianapolis. Unfortunately, our printed directions failed us when the remote roads were not marked. Thankfully I had my iPhone, and after some maneuvering through the back roads of Indiana, we finally made our way to Marion.

5:00 PM (Marion) -- Coach Alvarado and myself exited the cruiser and went to register the team on the beautiful campus (cafeteria) of Indiana Wesleyan University. During registration, coach Alvarado was greeted and smiled with numerous coaches from around the country. It's impressive how T&F coaches enjoy each other's company!

6:00 PM (Marion) -- After a grueling day of travel, we ate at the local Applebees where the group had a great experience with our waitress, Paige. She made sure we had first-class treatment and showed quite a liking to our group.

7:30 PM (Marion) -- Back at the beautiful dorms, coach Alvarado handed out championship event swag and timelines for his athletes. All of us are looking forward to a successful weekend as events begin on Thursday!
